Finding The Perfect Gift For Dad Is A Lot More Complicated Than You Think

how-to-pick-the-perfect-gift-for-dad

Most of us have fathers that are beyond hard to please and in most cases “don’t want anything”.

This post is going to show you how to pick the perfect gift for dad, so that you can get it for him whether he likes it or not.

Being the “I’m the man of the house” type of dude, they have other things to worry about and getting something new is probably at the bottom of his list.

This is where you come in.

Whether you’re his mother, wife, daughter, son, or friend, it is your job to get him stuff that he not just needs but probably even wants.

If he’s anything like me, he will not once think about getting it for himself, so let’s make your job a lot easier by providing you this “guide”.

So How Do You Pick the Perfect Gift For Dad?

It’s actually really easy when you think about it, but it can be complicated if you don’t.

There are all the little signs on what you can get, but with this thing called life happening, we let these little signs pass us by.

Thanks to people like me, you don’t have to do much thinking as I will show you how to pick the perfect gift for dad without doing much thinking.

Let’s Start With Your Budget

How much do you have and how much are you willing to spend?

I know we always have it in our mind that these special events come around once a year, but if you think that way, you’ll most likely be broke the whole year.

First it’s their Birthday, then Father’s day, then Christmas, then other family member’s events and the list goes on.

It’s never ending, so you need to think about what is best for YOU.

Getting the perfect gift doesn’t mean it has to come with a nice price.

There are gifts under $50 that I’m sure you can find to be amazing.

Observe Him

Don’t be like some type of crazy person, but just take a look at what he might need.

Tools looking beat up?

Is he wearing the same shirt every other day?

Are his shoes talking when he walks?

There are all these not so little clues as to what he can use, so just look around the house and you will see what he can actually use and serve as a great gift.

If you see dad’s tape measure all rusty, don’t you think it would be a great time to get him one?

Do remember that if he has some craftsman tools or one of those high quality ones, there might actually be a way to get it replaced, to you might want to do your research first before spending on it.

Another thing to look at is all the cool As Seen on TV products that are out there, as they are actually really interesting and I’m sure he won’t have them.

I recently came across the Rotorazer as well as the Kreg Rip-Cut circular saw guide, which I’m sure he will find useful.

Ask Months in Advance

Throw the question out there.

“Dad, what do you want for your Birthday?”

“Dad, what do you want for Father’s Day?”

Not a week before, but waaaaay before the big day comes.

You will get a better chance of getting him to say something because he knows that day is a long time from now, compared to asking him a week prior as he will most likely say that he doesn’t want anything.

Asking ahead of time is like a regular conversation and he might just throw out the best gift ideas that you won’t get if you asked him later.

Ask Mom

If there’s one person that knows the man of the house best, it is always going to be his other half.

She knows exactly what he wants and most especially knows the type of person he is.

She has to be around him, deal with him, and all that type of stuff, so I’m sure she can point you in the right direction.

In this case, mama knows best.

What Are Dad’s Hobbies?

These days, some dads have it all.

Times have changed and there are a lot of dads that are actually spending a lot of money on themselves and they get what they want, when they want it.

So for that type of dad, you are going to have to do some digging and there’s no better place to start than by looking into what they have interest in.

Some dads are into gadgets, while others are more into yard work and DIY projects.

Look for the latest and greatest gadget or tool, and I’m sure you can add to his arsenal of things he already has.

If he collects something, add to it.

Now if it’s some type of hoarding collection, please don’t add to that.

Finding the Right Gift is Actually Really Easy

So if you thought that dad is the hardest person to shop for, I hope these tips have helped you find the perfect gift for dad, no matter what type of person he is.
